To order a custom gobo, send your artwork, projector brand and model, quantity, and delivery destination. GoboUltra reviews the design and size, sends a digital proof, and begins production after final artwork approval and payment. This guide explains what to send and what to check.
A custom glass gobo is a patterned insert used inside a compatible projector. It is not a projector or a replacement projection lens.

What should I send for a custom gobo quote?
| Send us | What to include |
|---|---|
| Artwork | Your original logo or design file, plus any requested wording or color changes. |
| Projector information | Brand, exact model, and the required gobo specifications if known. |
| Quantity | Number of gobos and whether each uses the same design. |
| Delivery details | Country, postal code, and any required arrival date. |
Send everything together where possible. If you do not know the gobo size, provide the projector model rather than selecting a size by guesswork.
Which artwork files can I use?
GoboUltra accepts JPEG, PNG, PDF, AI, PSD, SVG, and EPS files. You can upload your artwork or email it to support@goboultra.com. These formats and the review process are listed on our custom glass gobo product page.
For a logo or lettering, send the original editable vector artwork when available. A PDF or AI filename alone does not mean every element is vector artwork. If your designer supplies a vector file, ask them to outline the fonts and include any linked graphics so the lettering and images can be checked correctly.
Only have a PNG or JPEG? Send the clearest original file you have. Avoid screenshots and compressed copies. We will review the detail before you approve production. Very fine lines, small text, and complex artwork may need adjustment; enlarging a blurry image does not restore missing detail.
How do I confirm the right gobo size?
Outside diameter (OD) is the diameter of the entire glass insert. Image area is the usable area for the pattern. Both matter, along with any thickness and holder requirements specified for your fixture.
For example, our E-size option lists a 37.5 mm outside diameter and a 28 mm image area. Our D-size option lists a 53.3 mm outside diameter and a 38 mm image area. These are dimensions of our listed options, not a compatibility promise for every projector.
For a replacement gobo, confirm the exact fixture model and whether it uses a fixed or rotating holder. Rosco's custom gobo order guidelines also identify the fixture manufacturer and model as essential fit information.
Use our gobo size and measurement guide as a starting point. If you are unsure, send the model number and a photo of its specification label or the relevant manual page. A size letter or wattage alone is not enough to confirm fit.
Logo only or logo with a white background?
Choose the background effect before approving your proof. These two common designs produce different results:
| Design style | Projected result |
|---|---|
| Logo only — black background in the artwork | The black background blocks light and is not projected. Only the light-transmitting logo areas appear; there is no illuminated background around the logo. |
| Logo with a white background | The white background area transmits light, creating an illuminated white background around the logo. Black parts of the design remain unlit. |

Black areas block light; the projector does not project black light. A white background is projected light, so its appearance also depends on the color of the receiving surface. Tell us whether you want “Logo only” or “Logo with white background” when reviewing your proof.
What should I check on my digital proof?
The digital proof is your opportunity to review the design before it is made. Check these five items:
- Text: spelling, numbers, punctuation, and the correct logo version.
- Layout: spacing, alignment, proportions, and whether anything is cropped.
- Colors and background: the requested color option, whether you want logo only or a logo with a white background, and which areas should transmit or block light.
- Orientation: how the artwork should appear in the intended installation. Ask us if it is unclear.
- Order specification: the agreed size and quantity, checked against the proof email or quotation.
A digital proof is a design preview, not a physical sample or a guarantee of on-site brightness. Projector optics, focus, ambient light, projection distance, image size, surface color, and installation angle affect the result. If you need a physical test sample, ask about its cost and timing before ordering.
How do I approve the design?
Reply to the latest proof email with the approved version and order details. If anything needs changing, list the changes and wait for a revised proof before giving final approval.
Approved: [proof version or filename].
Quantity and specification: [quantity] × [agreed gobo size and color option].
Background effect: [Logo only / Logo with white background].
Ship to: [recipient, full address, postal code, and phone number].
Required arrival date, if applicable: [date].
Confirm the quotation and payment arrangements as well. An approval reply does not, by itself, mean an order is paid or that a requested arrival date has been accepted.
What happens after approval?
Our current product information estimates production at about one day after payment is received and the final design is approved. Production and shipping are separate stages. Ask us to confirm the estimate for your order, particularly for larger quantities or complex requirements.
Tell us about an event deadline before payment. We will check the destination and shipping option; a requested date is not a delivery guarantee. Shipping fees apply, and transit estimates begin after dispatch.
Frequently asked questions
Can I order without knowing my gobo size?
You can start an inquiry with your artwork and projector model. Confirm the fit before placing the final order.
Does a custom gobo include a projector?
No. The custom glass gobo product is the patterned insert. If you also need a projector, see our retail projector buying checklist and gobo projector range.
Will my projection look exactly like the screen preview?
The proof confirms the artwork. Screen colors and a flat preview cannot reproduce every surface, lighting condition, or optical setup.
Can I change the design after approval?
Contact us promptly. We will check the production status before confirming whether a change is possible and whether it affects the cost or schedule.
